Financial Assistance

StudentAid BC

The BC provincial government provides assistance to our students enrolled in our programs by administering Provincial and Federal student loans.

While you are attending your studies full-time at Guildford College, you are not required to pay interest or any part of your loan until you have completed your education. This will ensure our students have a peace of mind and focus on achieving their goals.

These programs are StudentAid BC eligible:

• Bookkeeping and Payroll (program code ZFB7)
• Business Administration Diploma (program code ZAS7)
• Health Unit Clerk (program code TAO7)
• Health Unit Clerk - with Practicum (program code TAY7)

Funding is for Canadian citizens, permanent residents and protected persons who meet StudentAid BC's criteria; StudentAid BC makes the funding decision. Apply at studentaidbc.ca. See also our Financial Aid Policy (GC-POL-11).

A Line of Credit from a Local Bank or Credit Union

Many banks, such as Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank of Canada and TD Canada Trust, offer a student line of credit. Check with the loans department at your bank or credit union to see if you qualify.

Scholarship Canada

Scholarship Canada is a database of scholarships in Canada.

Yconic

Yconic is Canada’s free scholarship service.

Awards, Bursaries & Scholarships

Winning academic awards always looks great on the resume. There are many awards that lack applicants every year. Check for awards that have unusual criteria that will decrease the applicant pool. For example, your parents may belong to a professional organization or a union that runs a special bursary fund.

Employment Insurance

If you are receiving or have recently received Employment Insurance (EI) benefits, you may be eligible for skills-training funding provided under agreements between the Government of Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada) and the provinces. In British Columbia, eligible residents can apply through WorkBC (WorkBC Skills Training). Eligibility and funding decisions are made by the responsible government agencies.
