Managing an office needs a variety of skills that need to be learnt and mastered. This program focuses on teaching these skills to the students, so they are able to successfully carry out most of the office and administrative tasks like file management, using telephones and fax machines, organizing meetings and seminars. This Program provides skills needed for office administration positions today, preparing students to join the workforce immediately. This program will prepare students for a challenging & dynamic career in a variety of office and clerical settings.

This 24-week program will prepare students for immediate employment in a constantly changing office environment. Students will obtain all necessary skills and knowledge required to gain employment in administrative support positions in business, government, and nongovernment organizations.

Guildford College admission requirements for the Executive Office Administration program:

  • Successful completion of a high school diploma; and/ or will reach the age of nineteen (19) years on or before the start of the Program; or if less than nineteen (19) years of age on or before the start of the desired Program, have parental or guardian consent.
  • To qualify as a Mature Adult Student, an Applicant must satisfy the following criteria: o Be 21 years of age or older; And o Have not completed a high school diploma or an Adult Graduation Diploma; or o Have not attended high school for at least four (4) years; and/or o Have not received recognition for prior postsecondary education and training.
  • A copy of the high school transcript is required in addition to the diploma when applicable.
  • English Language Proficiency Requirement: No formal English language proficiency is required from:
    • Students that are natives from an English-speaking country OR
    • Students who have completed their secondary level of education from an institution where the method of instruction was English OR
    • Students who have completed at least 2 years of post-secondary education in a recognized institution where the method of instruction was English OR
    • Have completed a language assessment by the institution. OR
    • Completed BC English 12 with a minimum of C+ grade.
    • Students not meeting any of the above-mentioned English proficiency requirements will be required to meet any of the English Language tests requirements below:
      • IELTS: Minimum score of 5.5 in each category
      • CLB: Level 5 in each category
      • CELPIP: Level 6
      • DUOLINGO English Test Score: 100
  • Foreign applicant: All foreign credentials must be translated into English (or French if applying to a college where the instruction is in French) and equivalent to grade 12 level in Canada.

Upon completion of this program, the Executive Office Administration graduate will be able to:

  • Manage the scheduling, coordination and organization of administrative tasks and workflow within specific deadlines and according to set priorities.
  • Coordinate the collection, analysis, distribution, and response to communications in the workplace to facilitate the flow of information. • Operate and provide support related to the use, maintenance and procurement of office equipment and technologies.
  • Evaluate, establish, and administer a variety of records management systems to ensure confidential, secure, accessible, and organized electronic and paper records.
  • Use interpersonal, leadership and client service skills to respond to diversity and to support the vision and mission of the organization.
  • Select and use information technologies to support communication with internal and external stakeholders and to promote the organization.
